Vehkaneva
Kinnula
The Vehkaneva hybrid power project is located approximately 5 km southwest of the center of Kinnula municipality in the former peat production area of Vehkaneva and its surroundings. The northern edge of the project extends into the municipality of Lestijärvi.
The project area covers 2,200 hectares of land and is set to include 16 wind turbines, along with a 250-hectare solar power installation. The total capacity of the project is estimated to be 230 MW, with 130 MW coming from wind power production and 200 MW from solar power production.
The Kinnula municipality has approved the project’s zoning initiative, and Lestijärvi municipality is currently processing the initiative submitted to them. The zoning plan on the Kinnula side of the project and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the entire area are in progress. The next phase of the project involves wind measurements.
