KAUNISKANGAS
Kyyjärvi
The Kauniskangas project area is located approximately 2.5 kilometers from the municipal borders of Soini and Alajärvi in South Ostrobothnia, Finland. The Möksy village in Alajärvi is approximately 4 kilometers to the west, and the center of Kyyjärvi is about 3.5 kilometers to the northeast from the project area.
The project site spans 1,800 hectares and is scheduled for the installation of 9 wind turbines, along with a 370-hectare solar power facility. The total capacity of the project is estimated to be 369 MW, with 73 MW from wind power production and 296 MW from solar power production.
The electrical transmission for the wind farm will be connected to the national grid approximately 12 kilometers away, at the Möksy substation in Alajärvi. Internal electrical transmission within the wind turbine area will be implemented using underground cables.
The planning of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) began in November 2020 in collaboration with Ramboll Finland Oy. Kyyjärvi municipality unanimously approved the zoning initiative for the project in December 2020. Additional surveys required by the ELY are currently being finalized for the area.
